Grass-Fed Raw Milk In Northern Illinois

IMG_3957.JPG

In Illinois, raw milk must be picked up at the farm. A herd share makes sure we never sell out before you get here.

What is a herd share?

It’s Community Supported Agriculture. You get milk every week, like a subscription from your very own cow.

 How much is it?

Members pay a one-time fee to own the share and a weekly amount per share for us to care for your cows and have milk ready for pick up.

 Is the milk lab tested?

Yes our milk is lab tested. We test the coliform count and the APC (aerobic plate count) which indicates the cleanliness of our milking equipment. If the coliform count or APC are high it could indicate an issue that needs to be addressed.

We have voluntarily chosen to follow the standards set forth by RAWMI, the Raw Milk Institute.

As a member at North Sky Farm, you own a part of the milking herd, called a herd share.

It’s a one-time cost of $30 to purchase ownership of one whole share. You can purchase as many shares as your family desires. If you end the membership, we buy back the herd share(s) from you.

Ownership of one whole share provides you with one gallon of milk per week. Half shares are also available.
